Up! and at ’em: Join us at the AES this weekend
This weekend at the SAE Institute in London is the third year of ‘Up your Output!’, the AES British Section’s event specially designated for Student Members. This two day event has grown every year since the inaugral one-day event in 2013, where we recall we had a very unfortunate and unhappy accident with the Calrec van on the way back to Yorkshire.
This event has one clear mission — to help students on their way to becoming successful working audio professionals. This is reflected in the impressive program of lectures by people including Independent Recording Engineer Tony Faulkner, Founding shareholder and Director of Prism Sound Graham Boswell and Dolby Laboratories' Senior Sound Consultant James Shannon. It's no surprise that the event is already sold out.
At Up! Your Output this weekend, Calrec will have a Summa console set up in the same configuration that Sky use for their live Premiership coverage, and asking attendees to come and have a go at mixing an (almost) live Premiership football match on one of our award-winning consoles! In addition, we will also have a DiGiCo SD9 console for AES student members to get their hands on, a fabulous benefit of being in the same Pro Audio Group as DiGiCo and Allen & Heath.
Calrec has supported this event every year, and it's a great opportunity for manufacturers like us to get the opportunity to meet the AES student body. This kind of event is beneficial for everyone involved, and at a time when funding for training is scarce, any opportunity to get in front of kit and expand one’s knowledge should be encouraged. We're looking forward to it.05/03/15
